Invalidated in the Lukunga constituency by the Constitutional Court in favor of Van Kayemba Kabidi (Dypro), Kennedy Katasi Kiala (AB-50) lamented the way the law was interpreted by this high court sitting in electoral matters.
Speaking to the press on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at the Meriba hotel in Gombe, AB-50, through Zacharie Tshibangu, a member of the ACJD party, raised a technical error regarding the decision of the Constitutional Court on March 12, 2024.
“According to the results published by the CENI, Dypro only received 5767 votes and their candidate only obtained 1196 votes, whereas with 9150 votes collected by AB-50, Kennedy Katasi Kiala secured 4077 votes in the Lukunga constituency,” revealed Dr. Zacharie Tshibangu.
He also mentioned in his statement that the two appeals submitted by Dypro to the Constitutional Court did not in any way harm Kennedy Katasi, who was disqualified after a maneuver orchestrated by the Court.
Confident in the rule of law in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, AB-50 took this opportunity to address President Félix Tshisekedi as the Supreme Magistrate, the guarantor of the proper functioning of the State, for the reinstatement of their disqualified candidate.
Hoping for a favorable outcome for their candidate, AB-50 emphasizes that “2018 will not be repeated” to remind that this is the second time Katasi Kiala has been invalidated by this competent high court in electoral matters.
