The Ministry of Health has said creating safe homes and stopping domestic violence could see a stride in preventing teenage pregnancies, which is persisting in the country.

Currently, 34 percent of girls in Uganda get married before 18 years of age, coupled with 24 percent teenage pregnancies, according to statistics from the Ministry of Health.

Commissioner for Reproductive Health, Dr Richard Mugahi, described this as a time bomb in the country, noting that it is crippling the lives of young people.
