Parliament’s Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) has questioned the Bank of Uganda (BoU) over gaps in consumer protection in the rapidly growing digital lending sector.
The committee on Monday asked BoU officials to explain whether borrowers and loan guarantors are adequately protected and whether lenders are complying with central bank consumer-protection guidelines.
The officials appeared before the committee to respond to queries raised in the 2025 Auditor General’s report.
