Cooperation: Burkina Faso and the Islamic Republic of Iran exchange views on agreements signed last October

Ouagadougou, March 11, 2024 (Africa Links 24) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation, and Burkinabe Abroad, Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré, and the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Burkina Faso, Mojtaba Faghihi, met on Monday in Ouagadougou to discuss the implementation of agreements concluded in October 2023 within the framework of the first joint cooperation commission between Burkina Faso and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to the Iranian diplomat, one of the agreements signed concerned technological departments and professional training.

Regarding this, it is learned from the Iranian ambassador that a Burkinabe delegation was in the Islamic Republic of Iran for training in the automotive field.

Furthermore, scholarships have been launched for Burkinabe students, with around thirty applications under consideration, continues the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Another advancement in cooperation is that several Burkinabe economic operators and officials are invited to participate in the 6th edition of the Iranian exhibition, called “IRAN EXPO 2024,” scheduled from April 27 to May 1, 2024, at the Tehran International Exhibition Center (Iran).

In general, it is noted by the Burkinabe foreign minister and his guest that Burkina Faso and the Islamic Republic of Iran maintain excellent bilateral relations, as evidenced by the agreements signed in October 2023 in various fields.

These include environmental protection and natural resources; energy and mining; construction; social protection; the development of higher education, research, and innovation; the pharmaceutical industry; technical and professional training, among others.

Minister Traoré was accompanied by the Minister in charge of Regional Cooperation, Stella Eldine Kabré/Kaboré.
