For Pascal Tsaty Mabiala, leader of the Pan-African Union for Social Democracy (UPADS), these results do not correspond to the reality on the ground.
The Minister of Planning, Statistics and Regional Integration, Ingrid Olga Ghislaine Ebouka-Babackas, has revealed the results of the fifth General Population and Housing Census (Rgph-5). According to these official data, the population of the Republic of the Congo has doubled, from 3.7 million in 2007 to 6,142,180 inhabitants in 2023. There is an average annual growth of 3.2% and a balanced distribution between men and women, with 49.7% and 50.3% of the total population respectively.
However, Pascal Tsaty Mabiala, leader of the opposition and leader of UPADS, questions the accuracy of the Rgph-5 figures. He mentions significant discrepancies between certain departments, notably a questionable increase in Likouala and an underestimation in Bouenza.
The opponent to the regime of Denis Sassou N’Guesso emphasizes the importance of a thorough analysis to ensure the accuracy of the data and a faithful representation of the Congolese population. He expresses his desire to collaborate with the government to examine the detected anomalies and make corrections.
