A press conference announcing the program and content of this event was organized on Tuesday, April 2nd at the Maison bleue du diabète in Congo.
The 4th edition of the Traversée du Mayombe will take place from May 18 to 24 between Pointe-Noire and Brazzaville. The president of the Marcher courir pour la cause (MCPLC) platform, Rodrigue Dinga Mbomi, organized a press conference on April 2nd. During this meeting with the media, the program and content of this 4th edition of the challenge, which is both sporty, health, humanitarian and tourist, were presented.
The Traversée du Mbomi aims, among other things, to draw attention to the issues of noncommunicable diseases in general, and diabetes in particular. According to the organizers, the walk will take place in six stages, namely: Malélé-Mvouti, Mvouti-Dolisie, Dolisie-Nkayi, Nkayi-Loutété, Loutété-Mindouli, Mindouli-Ignié and Ignié-Brazzaville.
“We have the will to establish, permanently, health centers in certain localities that will aim to receive and support people suffering from diabetes. It is a fight that we have been leading for a long time and we will not tire because it is necessary to inform the population,” explained Rodrigue Dinga Mbomi.
It is worth noting that for this 4th edition, free diabetes screening is planned in the city of Madingou. All those who test positive for diabetes will be followed and cared for. One hundred participants are expected.
