During the hearing on March 8th, the prosecutor requested two months of imprisonment and a fine of 50,000 CFA francs for the fifteen students.

There were originally 17 students, accused of replacing the national flag with a fabric at the technical and commercial high school (Lycée technique et commercial) 5-fevrier 1979 in Brazzaville. Two of them were acquitted due to lack of evidence. The remaining 15 are awaiting the sentence that the court will deliver on Thursday, March 14, 2024.

It is worth noting that during the hearing on March 8th, the prosecutor requested two months of imprisonment and a fine of 50,000 CFA francs for the fifteen students.

The defense lawyer, Me Haris Kisouesoué, believes that the court will not follow the prosecutor’s request and will instead release these students to allow those who are taking exams to prepare. On the other hand, the State’s lawyer, Me Jean-Fortuné Bassinga, believes that the requested punishment is symbolic and serves as a lesson.
