They have decided to suspend their services to demand a salary increase.
With signs in hand, on which messages are written, they have gathered their strength to launch a movement. The intern doctors working at the Adolphe-Sicé General Hospital in Pointe-Noire are on strike. These men in white coats have suspended their services at this hospital and intend to continue if their situation does not improve. They are demanding an improvement in their status.
These 400 strikers, including 323 intern nurses, 77 providers in the pharmacy, administration, and audit departments, had submitted a strike notice to their superiors to demand a salary increase and other demands.
These demands include “increasing salaries to improving working conditions without forgetting healthcare coverage in case of illness.”
It is noted that some interns have been there for more than 20 years and would only receive a bonus of less than 50,000 FCFA at the end of the month.
