The Public Transport Union reproaches the government for increasing the price of vehicle registration and creating a third license plate.
Public transport workers signed a strike notice on Monday, March 4, for a three-day strike across the entire country. The temporary halt of their activities is scheduled from March 11 to 13. This decision follows the strike notice submitted to the relevant authorities.
They reject the renewal of the driver’s license at 56,000 FCFA, the 10-year validity of the driver’s license, the increase in vehicle registration fees, as well as the collection of 500 FCFA from each passenger from the hinterland.
The Public Transport Union blames the government for increasing the interurban transport fare and creating additional taxes: the increase in the price of vehicle registration and the creation of a third license plate. They also denounce the blocking of driver’s licenses for users being processed at the general directorate of land transport.
As a result, they are considering increasing the taxi fare from 1000 to 1500 FCFA and the bus fare from 150 to 250 FCFA.
