The Director General of Taxes was granted provisional release by the Republic’s Public Prosecutor on Thursday, April 4, 2024.

Ludovic Itoua was granted provisional release after paying a bail of 18 million CFA francs with a set of conditions, pending his trial. The tax director had been brought before the prosecutor on Wednesday, April 3. He is accused of forgery, use of forged documents, and embezzlement of funds.

He is prohibited from leaving the national territory. His passport and other identification documents have been confiscated. This release has been variously commented on in the streets of the Republic of the Congo.
