The Minister of State in charge of Trade, Alphonse Claude N’Silou warns breweries against the new increase in beer prices.

In Brazzaville, the price of local beer has increased from 500 to 600 CFA francs in some drinking establishments. A decision that the Minister of State in charge of Trade describes as a unilateral increase decided by the brewers.

On Monday, March 4th, he addressed the leaders of the breweries, Brasco and Bralico, via a note. Minister Alphonse Claude N’Silou finds this behavior contrary to Law No. 6-94 of June 1, 1994, which regulates prices, commercial standards, and detects and suppresses commercial fraud.

Prices must remain unchanged and remain as fixed by the last approval. Violators will be sanctioned in accordance with the current regulations,” he warned.

It is recalled that in July 2023, the breweries had tried to increase the prices of the beverage, citing the increase in certain obligations.
