21 individuals are being prosecuted for embezzlement of public funds. The prosecutor of the Republic near the High Court of Brazzaville, André Oko Ngakala, has initiated legal proceedings against these individuals. This is according to a statement released by the prosecutor.
“Following the economic crime committed to the detriment of the Congolese State in the customs sector in September 2023, a flagrant investigation was opened by the Central Intelligence and Documentation services of Brazzaville. At the end of this investigation, 21 individuals suspected of being the authors of the crime were brought before the Republic’s prosecutor’s office,” explained the prosecutor in the statement.

Prosecutor André Oko Ngakala emphasizes in the statement that “Considering the sensitivity and extreme gravity of the situation, I have decided, following the flagrant crime procedure, to prosecute these individuals for embezzlement of public funds, forgery and use of false documents, fraudulent intrusion into a computer system… These individuals have been arrested to be judged in accordance with the law.”
