On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, Sidiki Diabaté, 27, was found guilty of raping a 9-year-old girl by the first instance court of Mafanco. With the help of a sign language interpreter, Sidiki Diabaté openly admitted to the alleged facts.

In court, he explained that he had sexual relations with the victim twice in his room for the price of 25,000 Guinean francs. He clarified that he did not force the victim. However, the evidence presented in the case indicates that the girl was only 9 years old, which the accused did not deny at all.

Responding to questions from his lawyer, Sidiki expressed regret for his actions and asked for forgiveness. Despite his remorse, the prosecution asked the court to find him guilty and sentence him to 10 years in prison.

On the other hand, the defense lawyer requested leniency from the court due to the accused’s mental illness. He asked that his client be sentenced to time already served in prison.

Sidiki Diabaté was ultimately found guilty of raping a minor and sentenced to 5 years in prison.
