The North Kigezi Diocese Bishop, Rt Rev Onesimus Asiimwe, has strongly criticized church leaders who display deceptive behaviors, emphasizing that people’s hearts are impacted not only by preaching but also by the way leaders conduct their lives. Bishop Asiimwe highlighted that many church leaders, despite their impressive attire and roles within the church, are actually pretending and their sinful actions are leading their followers astray, contradicting the message of salvation.

During a pastoral visit to All Saints Parish Nyakariro in Bugangari Archdeaconry, Rukungiri District, Bishop Asiimwe delivered a sermon calling out these leaders for their hypocrisy. He warned that while leaders may deceive the world with their facade, they cannot deceive God. Drawing a parallel, he likened some church leaders to empty tins with labels, emphasizing that true transformation should go beyond outward appearances and titles to reflect genuine faith and righteousness.

Bishop Asiimwe stressed the importance of genuine salvation in churches, lamenting that some individuals prefer to hear messages of hope rather than the true gospel of salvation. He urged churches to uphold and share the message of salvation diligently, as failure to do so could result in spiritual peril for many, even those who contribute generously to church activities.

Furthermore, Bishop Asiimwe cautioned against preaching a diluted gospel to please congregants, emphasizing the need for authenticity and adherence to the revealed word of God. He emphasized that material offerings or good deeds alone cannot guarantee salvation if individuals do not heed the true gospel message and repent of their sins.

Addressing the challenges facing the church, Sr Florence Rwabahima, the head of the laity at Nyakariro All Saints Church, expressed concerns about the growing prevalence of rumors, fornication, and sinfulness within the church community. She commended Bishop Asiimwe for revitalizing the message of salvation within the church, recognizing it as a crucial foundation for spiritual growth and societal transformation.

During the visit, Bishop Asiimwe welcomed and confirmed around 120 individuals into the Anglican Faith, urging them to remain obedient and seek Jesus as their ultimate savior. This act symbolized a reaffirmation of the commitment to spreading the authentic message of salvation and fostering true transformation within the church community.

In conclusion, Bishop Asiimwe’s message serves as a call to church leaders and congregants alike to prioritize genuine faith, righteousness, and adherence to the foundational principles of salvation. By emphasizing integrity and authenticity in both words and actions, Bishop Asiimwe underscores the crucial role of church leaders in guiding and nurturing the spiritual growth of their followers, ultimately leading them towards eternal salvation.
