Ambassador Xu Jie of the People’s Republic of China in Cape Verde highlighted today the close ties between the Chinese and Cape Verdean people, emphasizing successful cooperation in various key areas. Xu Jie argues that these partnerships have generated mutual benefits, further strengthening the ties between China and Cape Verde.

In a conversation with journalists on Thursday morning, within the framework of a press briefing to share the results of the latest sessions of the National People’s Congress of China and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, the Chinese Ambassador to Cape Verde emphasized that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 48 years ago, China has played an active role in supporting the development of Cape Verde.

“In recent years, under the guidance of leaders from both nations and with the broad support of various sectors, the mutual political trust between China and Cape Verde has been continuously strengthened. The traditional friendship between the two countries has deepened, while cultural exchanges have become more active. Multilateral coordination has also been strengthened, resulting in fruitful outcomes in all areas of Sino-Cape Verdean cooperation.”

The ambassador expressed the Chinese government’s continued commitment to providing support and assistance to Cape Verde, emphasizing the willingness of both parties to work together to further deepen the traditional friendship, enhance pragmatic cooperation, and take Sino-Cape Verdean relations to new heights.

During the briefing, Xu Jie also presented the success of the recent sessions of the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, crucial events on the political agenda of the Asian nation. These sessions, according to the ambassador, are not only crucial for China’s political life but also serve as a crucial platform for the world to understand the country’s development trajectory.

One of the central points addressed was China’s economic performance, with impressive data revealed during the two sessions. China’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) surpassed the 126 trillion yuan mark, with a 5.2% increase, consolidating China as one of the main global economies. Additionally, investments in research and development have grown significantly, driving technological innovation in sectors such as artificial intelligence and renewable energy.

The popular democracy in China was also emphasized, with the ambassador highlighting the active role of Chinese citizens in the political process, especially during the sessions of the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. Xu Jie emphasized the broad public engagement in formulating government policies, reflecting the vitality of the Chinese democratic system.

Furthermore, the ambassador reiterated China’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Cape Verde, highlighting the mutual benefits achieved through cooperation in various areas such as infrastructure, agriculture, education, and health. He expressed China’s continued willingness to support Cape Verde’s socio-economic development and further elevate the partnership between the two countries.
