The Easter holiday in Zambia has become a battleground for local artists, with a flurry of new content being released. Following the releases from artists like Yo Maps, Mordecai, and Pompi, Chile One, also known as “Mr Zambia,” has launched a new music video for a track off his album ‘Boy from Chililand’.
The video for Chile One’s song ‘So Chabe’, featuring rapper Jae Cash, has already garnered an impressive 236 thousand views on YouTube within just five hours of its release. This has outperformed the views of other music videos released earlier by Yo Maps, Mordecai, and Pompi.
As of now, Yo Maps’ ‘Nga Te Ba Yahweh’ has reached 511 thousand views, Mordecai’s ‘Far Away’ has 469 thousand views, and Pompi’s ‘Soon and Very Soon’ has 28 thousand views. The fans seem to be enjoying the competitive spirit among the artists, particularly between Chile One and Yo Maps.
Some fans have expressed their preference for Chile One’s work over Yo Maps’, with one comment on Chile One’s Facebook post saying, “This has healed me from the trauma I went through yesterday.” However, not all feedback has been positive, as some critics have pointed out areas for improvement, such as better visuals for the music videos.
Despite the mixed reactions, it is clear that the Zambian music scene is thriving with talent and creativity. The competitive nature of the releases has generated excitement among fans, who eagerly await new content from their favorite artists.
