The artistic director of the Themacult Vangdar Dorsouma space launched the commemorative activities of the 2024 edition of World Theatre Day on 17th April 2024.

Celebrated on March 27th each year, World Theatre Day was postponed to the 17th April in Chad due to Ramadan. The festivities of the day included professional meetings, theater practitioners, and public events. “This fundamental meeting will allow us to take stock of the state of theater in Chad and try to make proposals for solutions that will help improve the practice of the art,” emphasized the artistic director of the Themacult Vangdar Dorsouma space.

In Chad, theater has had its time, but it is currently facing several problems. According to Vangdar Dorsouma, Theater is facing a serious funding problem. “Since 2016, art has been facing difficulties. Because it is not funded, it is not helped, and that is very difficult,” he said.

For the artistic director of the Themacult theater, it is time for people to be able to provide resources for theater practitioners because art brings a lot to the development of a country. “Art supports a change in mentality, it contributes to shaping the mind of man. That’s why artists are aware and continue to practice this profession,” he reveals.
