Opened on March 6, the validation workshop of the Priority Action Plan of the National Land Policy of Chad was closed yesterday, March 7, 2024. Participants validated the Priority Action Plan for the implementation of Chad’s national land policy.
After two days of discussions to improve the Priority Action Plan for the implementation of the National Land Policy of Chad, land experts validated the document. According to Mahamat Sorto, program officer at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for all strategies of the National Land Policy, the most important document is the Action Plan. “I am convinced that, for the continuation of this work, we can contribute in some way to finding solutions to the problems that plague us daily, such as the conflict between herders and farmers, and conflicts between humans and wildlife,” said the FAO program officer before reiterating the institution’s readiness to support the Chadian government in land-related projects.
Idriss Bachar Kary, Director General of Cadastre, Topography, and Land Archives, and President of the Multi-Stakeholder Committee, encouraged and congratulated the experts for the result of their work. He stated that the ministry has been in the process of adopting the National Land Policy for two years and has traveled throughout the country to produce the National Land Policy. “The most important and crucial thing is to have an Action Plan, and that is what you have just done. I truly hope that with the adoption of Chad’s National Land Policy by the Multi-Stakeholder Committee and experts in November 2023, and now the validation of its Priority Action Plan, the government will take all necessary measures to make it a reality,” announced the Director General of Cadastre, Topography, and Land Archives.
The President of the Multi-Stakeholder Committee assured participating experts that all recommendations made at the end of this workshop will be conveyed to the appropriate authorities for implementation.
