Following a general assembly held on March 20, 2024 at the labor exchange, the trade unions and professional unions signatories of the triennial social pact decide to suspend their strike for 10 days.
It was after meeting with the government on March 18th that this general assembly resulting in the suspension of the strike for 10 days by the trade unions and professional unions signatories of the triennial social pact took place.
According to the president of the Union of Trade Unions of Chad (Ust) Barka Michel, after the rejection of all government proposals by workers at the previous general assembly, the trade unions and professional unions signatories of the triennial social pact held a meeting with the government on March 18th to highlight all the problems faced by workers in Chad.
According to the secretary general of the Independent Confederation of Trade Unions of Chad, Mahamat Nasradine Moussa, certain points were taken into account by the government during the negotiations.
These include, as reported by Mahamat Nasradine, the payment of transport expenses for 2023 and 2024 at the end of March, transport expenses for 2023 for the months of January and February; Payment of allowances ranging from 30,000 CFA francs to 60,000 CFA francs for chalk, and settlement of individual requests by the end of the month, among other things.
The trade unions and professional unions signatories of the triennial social pact promise to continue negotiations with the government until their demands are fully met, but in the meantime decide to suspend the strike for 10 days.
