Chad: The trade union cell of Cecoqda issues a 6-day strike notice

In a press release issued on Monday, April 8, 2024, the trade union cell of the food quality control center (Cecoqda) expressed outrage at the inhumane and degrading treatment faced by the staff of the said center and decided to launch a notice of strike for 06 working days from Monday, April 8 to Tuesday, April 16.

Gathered in a general assembly on April 4, the members of the trade union cell of Cecoqda expressed their outrage at the inhumane and degrading treatment experienced by the workers of the renowned scientific center. After futile discussions between the trade union cell of Cecoqda and the general management, the general assembly decided to launch a notice of strike for 06 working days from Monday, April 8 to Tuesday, April 16.

After this period, the press release informs, the staff will go on an indefinite strike until the following demands are met: unconditional payment of CNPS arrears from 2013 to 2019 and arrears from 2023 and the 1st quarter of 2024; Carrying out advancements for the staff and recalling the arrears of advancements for the year 2023 and 2024 for all relevant staff; Unconditional payment of the 13th month salaries as decided by the government according to the social pact; Granting risk bonuses to support staff such as receptionists, laundry staff, cleaners, archivists, gardeners, drivers, and security agents; Monthly revision of healthcare coverage for all staff, salary increases to cope with the cost of living, and recalling the leftover fuel and food detoxification subsistence allowances from the year 2023, as well as those from 2024.
