The president of the National Agency for Electoral Management (ANGE), Ahmed Bartchiret, unveiled today at a press conference the electoral timetable for the presidential election in Chad, marking the start of the electoral process for a quick return to constitutional order.

In his speech, Ahmed Bartchiret recalled the political context of Chad, marked by a transition initiated after the death of Marshal Idriss Déby Itno in April 2021, and discussed the upcoming steps, including the organization of presidential, legislative, local, and senatorial elections for the return to constitutional order.

The president of ANGE detailed the timetable for the presidential election, emphasizing the need to hold the election before the start of the rainy season. The timetable is as follows:

– March 6 to March 15, 2024: Deadline for submitting candidacies for the presidential election;

– March 24, 2024: Publication of the lists of candidates approved by the Constitutional Council;

– April 14 to May 4, 2024: Electoral campaign for the first round of the presidential election;

– May 6, 2024: First round of the presidential election;

– May 21, 2024: Proclamation of provisional results of the first round;

– June 5, 2024: Proclamation of the final results by the Constitutional Council;

– June 6 to June 20, 2024: Campaign for the second round of the presidential election;

– June 22, 2024: Second round of the presidential election;

– July 7, 2024: Proclamation of provisional results;

– July 20, 2024: Proclamation of final results of the second round by the Constitutional Council.

Ahmed Bartchiret called on technical and financial partners to actively support the electoral process in Chad.
