During a press conference held on Friday, the President of the National Movement for Change in Chad (MNCT), Mahamat Ahmat Lazina, announced that he will not run for the presidential election in May 2024.

The president of the party National Movement for Change of Chad (MNCT), Mahamat Ahmat Lazina, is not ready to run for the upcoming presidential election in May. According to him, his recent return from exile did not allow the party to fully prepare for its participation in this major event.

“At MNCT, we firmly believe that participating in elections should be motivated by the desire to win and to best serve the interests of our country. Participating simply for the sake of taking part in an election is not our way. Currently, we are simply not ready to face this presidential election under the best possible conditions and win it,” said Mahamat Ahmat Lazina.

Lazina stated that his party will prepare for the senatorial, legislative, and municipal elections. He also indicated that MNCT remains fully committed to the country’s democratic life and will continue to work to promote its ideals and values.
