The Minister of Communication and Government Spokesperson, Abderaman Koulamallah, expressed the government’s deep sadness in a press release regarding the tragic events of February 27 and 28, reaffirming their commitment to justice and transparency.

According to Abderaman Koulamallah, the government acknowledges the request for an independent investigation by Human Rights Watch regarding the circumstances surrounding all the deaths resulting from these events. “We wish to emphasize our willingness to fully cooperate with any independent investigation aimed at establishing the truth,” he reaffirms.

However, the government spokesperson laments that some humanitarian organizations focus solely on isolated events, neglecting conflicts and proven human rights violations in other regions of the world, such as the situation of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, facing a genocide among the worst in human history. According to Abderaman Koulamallah, Chad rejects any form of double standards. “Chad calls for a balanced and comprehensive approach to human rights protection, rejecting any form of double standards.”

The Chadian government emphasizes that Chad is fully committed to ensuring the security and protection of all its citizens, including those in political positions. “Attacks against political figures or state institutions will not be tolerated, and we will take all necessary measures to ensure security and stability in the country,” informs Abderaman Koulamallah. He reaffirms Chad’s determination to shed light on the events of February 28 that led citizens to take up arms and threaten the Republic’s institutions. “We invite all parties concerned to participate in this investigation in a constructive manner, with the aim of ensuring transparency,” he invites.

The government spokesperson continues that Chad is committed to “respecting the principles of the rule of law and international standards in human rights,” stated Abderaman Koulamallah before adding that the Chadian government will continue “to work with the international community and relevant organizations to promote and protect human rights in Chad, within the framework of an open and constructive dialogue.”
