According to the Official Gazette (B.O), the financing agreement concluded between Cape Verde and the African Development Bank (AfDB) for the Electronic Governance and Public Financial Management Reform Program (E-PFMRP) has been approved by the Council of Ministers.
Approved in the Council of Ministers on March 27, 2024, as published in the B.O on April 9, 2024, the E-PFMRP Program – Phase I, in the form of budgetary support, with an amount of up to eighteen million, two hundred and sixty-two thousand, nine hundred and fifty euros (EUR 18,262,950.00), a loan mobilized from the AfDB, aims to strengthen the consolidation of gains achieved in the implementation of the previous budgetary support program that was in force in 2021 and 2022.
The focus of this new program, as stated in the B.O, will be on improving the provision of public services through increased adoption of e-governance principles and practices, modernization of the Public Administration to enhance governance effectiveness and gender equality, enhancement of economic competitiveness through digitized services for the private sector and citizens, and support for transitioning to a climate-resilient and low-carbon development.
The Government of Cape Verde, in partnership with its development partners, is committed to implementing a series of reforms to address current challenges and promote inclusive and sustainable growth. This agreement reflects the mutual commitment between Cape Verde and the African Development Bank to promote progress and well-being in the Cape Verdean nation.
“This decree, approved by the Council of Ministers, comes into effect immediately, thus marking a new chapter in the transformation and modernization journey of Cape Verde,” reads the B.O.
