Cape Verde will be present at the 2nd Information and Awareness Workshop of the Journalists Network of the Regional Project for Off-Grid Electricity Access (ROGEAP), which will take place from March 13th to 14th in Lomé, Togo. Representing Cape Verde will be journalist Pedro Paulo Moreira, chief information officer of Rádio de Cabo Verde, and Joarel Barros, responsible for Communication at CEREEC.

The 19 focal points of the media from the 19 member states of the ROGEAP Project will participate in the works of the 2nd Information and Awareness Workshop on the activities implemented by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the West African Development Bank (BOAD) within the scope of the ROGEAP Project, from March 13th to 14th, 2024 in Lomé, Togo.

The opening ceremony of this workshop was presided over by Arnaud Kouadio Ba, representing Commissioner Sediko Douka responsible for Infrastructure, Energy, and Digitalization of the ROGEAP Journalists Network.

The Regional Project for Off-Grid Electricity Access (ROGEAP) is funded by the World Bank, the Clean Technologies Fund, and the Directorate of International Cooperation of the Government of the Netherlands.

The project is part of the ECOWAS program on access to sustainable electricity services, directly contributing to the objectives of the ECOWAS Renewable Energy Policy, which aims to provide universal access to electricity in the region by 2030.

The project has two main components, which include the development of a regional market for off-grid solar photovoltaic systems, as well as the possibility for the private sector to access financing for off-grid solar photovoltaic products.

The seminar in Lomé aims to update the network members on the activities implemented by the project since its inception and will be chaired by the ECOWAS Commissioner for Infrastructure, Energy, and Digitalization, Sediko Douka.
