Cape Verde and Brazil will meet tomorrow, 12, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Regional Integration, in Achada de Santo António, for the IV Political Consultation Meeting.
According to a government statement, this bilateral meeting, aimed at sharing information and evaluating cooperation actions, will be chaired by the Secretary for Africa and the Middle East of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Carlos Duarte, and the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Cape Verde, Miryan Vieira.
The agenda includes a comprehensive analysis of the political and socio-economic situation in both countries, as well as a discussion on regional and international issues of common interest.
Furthermore, according to the same source, there will be a review of bilateral relations, with an emphasis on the traditional areas of cooperation between the two countries. There will also be a presentation on the current status of the Integrated Development Program (PDI), currently in the structuring phase, which aims to improve efficiency and coordination of cooperation between Cape Verde and Brazil.
Another topic on the agenda will be the analysis of the international geopolitical situation and its implications for the development of both countries.
During the meeting, the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Diplomatic Institute of Cape Verde and the Rio Branco Institute of Brazil is expected.
It is worth noting that the Mechanism of Bilateral, Political and Cooperation Consultations was signed in 2009, and constitutes the institutional framework for enhancing bilateral dialogue between Cape Verde and Brazil, to give form to a strategic partnership desired by both countries.
The last Consultation, the III Political Consultation and Cooperation Mechanism Meeting between the two countries, took place in Praia on September 1, 2015. It followed the first one in July 2009 and the second one in 2012.
