In order to restore serenity within the ranks, the Cameroonian Party for National Reconciliation (PCRN) has made the heavy decision to permanently exclude Robert Kona, former president and founding member of the political party, after months of strife with the current party leadership. A decision that could potentially stir up further tensions within the PCRN.
It seems that it’s over between Robert Kona and the Cameroonian Party for National Reconciliation (PCRN) within the party. The former president and founding member of the party has been definitively excluded from his own party. In a letter from Boubakari Massardine, the General Secretary of the Cameroonian Party for National Renaissance (PCRN), addressed on March 25 to the Minister of Territorial Administration, it is revealed that this opposition political party has definitively expelled its former president Robert Kona from its ranks.
In a statement signed by Massardine Albert Fleuri, former General Secretary of the party, and Wanfeo William, former treasurer, both founding members of the PCRN, it is stated: “After recalling our comrade Kona Roba, former national president, through several acts and decisions, this comrade continued in a violent manner to undertake acts of rebellion that could lead to serious confusion within public opinion, thereby undermining the serenity within our political formation, which is more than ever ready to face upcoming electoral deadlines. Therefore, we, the co-founders, have taken the painful decision to motivate through our intervention in the disciplinary committee, our desire to see comrade Kona Robert definitively excluded from our party in accordance with the statutory and regulatory provisions of the party, a proposal that aligns with the report of the Ethics and Surveillance Committee (CES) on the indiscipline of our comrade. This will ensure that our efforts and sacrifices made over the years are not destroyed due to the selfishness and individualism of Mr. Kona Robert, who recently publicly confessed his participation in the conspiracy to destroy the party,” wrote two founding members of the party. When contacted by SBBC, Robert Kona stated, “I am unaware of my exclusion.”
It all started with the Ethics and Surveillance Committee of the PCRN. They requested and obtained the opening of a disciplinary procedure against Robert Kona. He openly admits that he wishes to take back control of the party from deputy Cabral Libii. Thus, the PCRN’s political bureau requested the disciplinary commission to make a decision regarding Robert Kona’s case. This commission has now made its decision.
With Robert Kona’s permanent exclusion, it is unlikely that this internal war will come to an end. Several scenarios are still possible. It is highly likely that the Minister of Territorial Administration will play a new card, as he has been accused multiple times of working to harm Cabral Libii. The final possibility is that the pending case may shift in favor of Robert Kona.
