The administrative authority is requesting the fighter against the Yaoundé regime to appear at its offices this Tuesday, March 26. The new prefect of Wouri, Sillyac Marie Mvogo, is asking the political opponent who instigated the city-wide strikes in the 1990s to urgently come to his office on the second floor of the Douala prefecture. The administrative authority, representing the central power in the city of Douala, does not specify the reason for this administrative summons; however, the prefect mentions that it is for an urgent matter concerning him.

However, a few days ago, Mboua Massock called for a popular mobilization starting from Douala. He set a “crucial appointment” for April 17, 18, and 19, 2024 for the observation of a “formal silence”. On those three days, Mboua Massock calls on the population to stay at home and do nothing. According to him, the approach aims to demonstrate the “collective determination to support” certain demands at a time when the country is heading towards the 2025 presidential election “without a real perspective.”

The demands mentioned by the unionist are “a presidential election with 2 rounds,” a restructuring of Elecam, a reduction in the time for announcing election results, “a ceasefire and the immediate opening of real negotiations related to the conflict in the so-called Anglophone regions of the country.”

The article discusses the political tensions and demands made by an opposition figure in Cameroon, as well as the response from the local administrative authority. The opposition leader’s call for a silent protest and the administrative summons are key points in the ongoing political situation in the country.
