An important meeting took place on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the Tanko Amadou assembly hall, bringing together local authorities, law enforcement forces, village and neighborhood leaders, as well as the district chief of Bonassama. The main objective of this meeting was to discuss measures to prevent the spread of bed bugs in the Douala 4 municipality.
Indeed, two cases of bed bugs have recently been reported in the region, but thanks to the quick intervention of the Municipality’s hygiene service, the problem was quickly resolved. The representative of the operation coordinator, Prof. Édouard Hervé Moby Mpah, emphasized the importance of the participation of all stakeholders in effectively combating this scourge.
Thus, the Municipality’s hygiene service in collaboration with the district of Bonassama will implement a field operation to eradicate bed bugs. Awareness and education actions will also be carried out among the populations to encourage them to report any suspected cases as soon as possible.
The Sub-Prefect recommended the establishment of an alert and vigilance system to prevent and immediately treat any bed bug infestation. He also warned against negligence, reminding that offenders will face severe sanctions.
This general mobilization shows the determination of the authorities and local stakeholders to actively combat bed bugs in Douala 4. “Close collaboration between all stakeholders will be essential to ensure the success of this operation and guarantee the health and well-being of the region’s residents,” affirmed the mayor.
