The commander of the Force visited the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defense and the Chief of Staff of the Cameroonian army.
The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and the Cameroonian Ministry of Defense have strengthened their synergy to completely defeat the terrorists of the Boko Haram sect in the Lake Chad Basin region.
This was revealed during a courtesy visit by the Force commander, Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, to the Minister of Defense in Yaoundé on February 1, 2024.
General Ali highlighted some recent successes achieved by the MNJTF in sector 1 of Cameroon. He attributed these successes to the Cameroonian government’s commitment to support the MNJTF at all times.
He stated that more and more terrorists continue to lay down their arms with the return of communities to their ancestral homes.
As a result, the Force Commander expressed his gratitude to the Cameroonian government and people for their support in achieving the expected objectives.
In his remarks, Cameroonian Minister of Defense Joseph Beti Assomo congratulated the MNJTF for its efforts to fulfill its mandate despite the challenges. He added that his country is strengthening cooperation with all partners to ensure the defeat of the remnants of Boko Haram.
He also renewed the commitment of the Cameroonian government to support the MNJTF.
Likewise, the Force Commander paid a visit to the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General René Claude Méka. During the visit, issues related to the security of the Lake Chad Basin were discussed.
