The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has reaffirmed its commitment to neutralize the terrorist threat in the Lake Chad basin region, following a successful clearance operation conducted by troops from Sector 3 (5th Brigade) of Nigeria on February 25, 2024.

The operation was launched in response to intelligence reports indicating the presence of Boko Haram terrorists in the vicinity of Alayi Bulanti, in the Mobbar local government area of Borno State. Deployed from their base in Damasak, the brave troops conducted a combat patrol that brought them into contact with the terrorist elements.

Upon making contact, the troops engaged the threat with superior firepower, effectively neutralizing the insurgents. The decisive action of the troops led to the recovery of terrorist weapons, including two AK-47 rifles, five magazines, and a total of 73 special 7.62mm ammunition rounds, as reported by Lieutenant Colonel ABUBAKAR ABDULLAHI, Chief of Military Information.

The commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force, Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, commended the troops of Sector 3 and urged them to remain determined in completely eliminating the terrorist elements in their operational zone. He also praised the local communities for their continued support.

The Multinational Joint Task Force is a regional military cooperation initiative involving countries in the Lake Chad basin region, including Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, and Chad. It was established to combat the threat of Boko Haram and other insurgent groups operating in the area.

The successful operation conducted by the troops of Sector 3 demonstrates the effectiveness of the collaborative efforts of the Multinational Joint Task Force in addressing the terrorist threat in the region. The commitment and bravery of the troops involved underscore the importance of cooperation and coordination in combating terrorism and protecting the security and stability of the region.

As the Multinational Joint Task Force continues its operations in the Lake Chad basin region, it remains resolute in its mission to eliminate the terrorist threat and restore peace and stability to the area. The success of the recent operation serves as a testament to the dedication and professionalism of the troops involved in the fight against terrorism.
