The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) commemorated International Women’s Day on March 8, 2024 at Camp 27 in N’Djamena, Chad.

The Force Commander, Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, expressed solidarity with the female personnel. In his speech, General Ali emphasized the importance of this year’s theme, “Investing in Women to Accelerate Progress,” highlighting the need to invest in education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and the development of women’s leadership to accelerate progress towards gender equality.

“Empowering women not only improves their individual prospects, but also fosters positive societal and economic changes within communities and countries,” General Ali stated.

Reaffirming the MNJTF’s commitment to women’s rights, General Ali emphasized the force’s continued commitment to protecting women and girls from terrorism and other criminal threats while preserving their security and well-being.

Christiana Idem, the Gender Advisor within the African Union Mission Support Team at the MNJTF, commended the force for recognizing the central role of women in its operations. She reiterated the female personnel’s commitment to supporting the MNJTF in fulfilling its mandate.
