An emergency meeting was held this Saturday at the headquarters of Fecafoot in Yaoundé, following the disagreement between the Ministry of Sports, which appointed a technical staff, and the president of Fecafoot, who contested this government decision.

Indeed, the emergency committee, gathered to address this thorny issue, decided to give Samuel Eto’o a 72-hour deadline to propose a technical staff for the coaching of the Indomitable Lions, in accordance with the current regulations from 2014.

The situation has reached a significant level of tension, with major implications for the Cameroonian national football team. The Ministry of Sports took the initiative to appoint a technical staff with Belgian Marc Brys at the helm as head coach, but this decision was rejected by the president of Fecafoot, thus sparking a major dispute within the leadership of Cameroonian football.

An open war has now erupted between Minsep and Fecafoot just weeks before the qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup.

Recall that Fecafoot had issued a statement in which it claimed not to have been consulted by the minister when appointing Marc Brys and his staff. The Minister, on the other hand, rejected this claim in a response addressed to Samuel Eto’o. He stated that Eto’o had proposed 3 coaches, with salary demands well above the government’s capabilities. It remains to be seen whether there will be common ground between the two institutions.
