A teacher in Yaoundé has been accused of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old student in the school bathroom. The incident was reported at the Nkolondom Gendarmerie and involves Che Clinton, a teacher at Lumen Christi School in Olembe, Yaounde.
According to the victim’s mother, she noticed blood on her daughter’s uniform two weeks ago, but initially thought it might be from a possible wound.
“I thought maybe my daughter had a wound on her head. On the night of Sunday, January 29, I became more concerned and decided to take my daughter to the hospital,” the mother explained.
At the hospital, medical reports confirmed the distressing incident involving the 7-year-old girl and the nature of the assault she endured. The findings indicate that the child has a perforated hymen, likely as a result of the abuse.
“After speaking with my daughter, she told me that it was a teacher from her school who inserted his fingers into her buttocks, tortured her, and made death threats to prevent her from telling anyone,” the mother added.
It is currently unclear whether the teacher in question has been taken into custody for further questioning.
The issue of sexual assaults in Cameroonian school environments remains a serious concern that requires immediate attention and collective action. The prevalence of such incidents not only violates the rights and dignity of students but also jeopardizes the safety and integrity of educational institutions.
