In Bafang, in the Western region of Cameroon, Haut Nkam department, a young student died suspiciously yesterday, Saturday. The young student, whose name has not been revealed, fell while she was at a business office in front of the Bafang town hall to write a complaint that she was going to file with the police after being scammed.
According to the testimonies gathered on site and reported by our colleagues from Bafang Infos, the young girl fell into the scammers’ traps. “She received a fake deposit message on her phone and then received a call informing her that she had received the deposit by mistake and that she should send the money back.
Naively, the young lady sent the money back before realizing that it was her own money that had gone and that in reality she had not received anything from the scammers. Very angry, she went to the Bafang police station to file a complaint.
She was received by a police officer who asked her to go and write her complaint in the office across the street and come back. When she arrived at the office, still very angry, while the lady in the office was writing the complaint, she collapsed and started to drool,” we learn.
The lady from the office then went to report to the police station and was told there that it must have been an epileptic seizure and that it would pass. “Unfortunately, the anger had reached an unbearable level, she went into cardiac arrest. The immediate help that was contacted could only confirm her death,” a witness reports.
The young lady unfortunately fell into the trap of these scammers who spread terror in the cities of Cameroon and who victimize people every day. According to several sources, most of them are incarcerated in Cameroonian prisons. It is from there that they plan most of their schemes.
It is also remembered that a few years ago, a prisoner held at the central prison of Kondengui almost created a diplomatic incident between Cameroon and another African country. He had then called the presidency of that country, pretending to be the Cameroonian authorities.
