Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, Minister of Commerce, inaugurated the extension of the Yaoundé factory of the Société Anonyme des Boissons du Cameroun (SABC) on March 21, 2024.
Boissons du Cameroun proceeded with the extension of its factory in Yaoundé. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Commerce, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, on Thursday, March 21, 2024.
During the event, the Minister of Commerce emphasized that the investment by the Castel Group deserves all the accolades, as it aligns with the National Development Strategy 2020-2030 (SND 30) in its substantial aspects, in terms of structural transformation of the national economy and import-substitution policy, key to the future.
According to Stephane Descadeaux, the General Manager of Boissons du Cameroun, the extension of the Yaoundé factory cost a little over 21 billion CFA francs, aiming to increase beverage production by 18% and packaging by 31%. It took 8 months for the assembly (from May 2023 to December 2023), and a strong mobilization of both internal and external skills.
In practical terms, this production factory will enable Boissons du Cameroun to increase the capacity of the Yaoundé factory from 2.8 million hectoliters to 3.6 million hectoliters. This will help reduce the current deficit by 94%, currently estimated at 850,000 hectoliters. The General Manager confirmed that “The project has already created 74 jobs, including 51 permanent positions, and 53 positions are still available in the coming months for a total of 127 jobs.” This factory has a production capacity of 35,000 bottles (33 cl, 50 cl, 60 cl, and 65 cl) per hour.
SABC has been present in the national territory for 76 years and has 9 industrial sites in the Littoral, Center, West, and North regions, with 35 storage centers spread across the country.
