The conference theme was “Women and War in Africa: Trials, Resilience, and Reconstruction.”
Organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross, the conference highlighted the role of women in African society. According to the institution, this role should no longer be limited to that of a victim, but should instead emphasize their ability to overcome challenges.
The panel took the opportunity to present the resilience of women in times of war, their courage, and their leadership skills. These are valuable skills for post-conflict projects. According to the university’s rector, Pr Adolphe Minkoa She, women should not be left behind, but their rights, capabilities, and knowledge should be highlighted.
The conference aimed to shed light on the important contribution of women to peacebuilding and reconstruction efforts in Africa. It emphasized the need to empower women and recognize their strengths in post-conflict societies.
The event served as a platform for discussions on gender equality, women’s rights, and the importance of women’s participation in peace and security processes. It also highlighted the need to provide women with the necessary support and resources to thrive in post-conflict environments.
Overall, the conference was a reminder of the resilience and strength of African women in the face of conflict and adversity. It called for a shift in mindset towards recognizing and valuing the contributions of women to peace and development in the region.
