The forecast is contained in a communication from the National Crescent Moon Commission.
In a few days, faithful Muslims will begin the month of fasting and intense prayers. Indeed, “if the crescent moon is visible on this date (March 10), the fasting of the month of Ramadan will begin, in Shâ Allah, on March 11, 2024. Otherwise, the month of Sha’ban will be completed at 30 days and the fasting will automatically begin on Tuesday, March 12, 2024,” informs the National Crescent Moon Commission in a press release dated March 5.
In the same document signed by the commission’s spokesperson, Professor Souley, it is learned that in preparation for the start of fasting, the search for the crescent moon will take place on Sunday, March 10. It is the appearance of this crescent moon that will determine the exact day of the beginning of the month of Ramadan. A month during which the Muslim community emphasizes prayer, various privations, and above all, sharing. Approximately 30 days that will culminate in the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, one of the major festivals of Islam.
