The scene unfolding in a public school has prompted traditional authorities to call upon law enforcement and security forces.

The public school in Kong-Kong has been at the center of a witchcraft story since Monday, March 11, 2024. Five students at this school located in the Figuil district, Mayo-Louti department, in the Northern region, fell into a trance within the school campus. While struggling, they spoke in the local language and French, addressing certain words to a man who would be their teacher. In the video circulating on the internet, these students plead with the man. “We have already worked hard, sir, you must let us go.” The sentence is repeated several times amidst parents who formed a semicircle around the children lying on the ground.

According to testimonies, the teacher had taken photos of these children using his phone camera before leaving. He was absent from the school. Upon his return, the alleged victims began to fall into a trance. Alerted, traditional authorities arrived at the school. They arrested the suspected teacher and took him to the Figuil gendarmerie station for investigation. The scene serves as a reminder of the issue of unorthodox practices within school establishments.
