The Ministry of Housing announces the completion of Phase I of the Yaoundé Municipal Lake. Célestine Ketcha Courtès inspected on March 26, 2024, all the work carried out for phase 1 of the tourist and economic development project of the Yaoundé Municipal Lake and the renovation of the MINGOA valley, which has been completed.

“In this phase 1, the surroundings of the municipal lake are completely landscaped, the waters are sanitized, and the population will soon be able to engage in water activities, take walks, and dine in the modern restaurants that have been built there.”

The ministry in charge of the economy had signed financing agreements on September 13, 2016, for 21 billion CFA francs for the benefit of the project with Deutsche Bank in Spain. An amount of 14.5 billion CFA francs through a loan with the same bank will also be mobilized for the work.

The first phase of this project consisted of the construction of a restaurant that has already been completed, the multimodal road that will encircle the lake, public lighting, landscaping, and public lighting.

Overall, the project to enhance the Yaoundé Municipal Lake involves cleaning up the lake, installing water sports equipment, landscaping its banks, and building a five-star hotel, international-class restaurants, shops, as well as a leisure and recreational area on its surroundings.
