A decision of the disciplinary committee imposes a suspension from the Political Bureau and a reprimand on the former president of the Cameroonian Party for National Reconciliation (PCRN)

The disciplinary procedure against Robert Kona, a member of the Political Bureau and former president of the PCRN, reached its conclusion on March 21, 2024. The Disciplinary Committee met and examined Robert Kona’s disciplinary case. He has been attempting since October 2023 to regain the leadership of the party entrusted to him by the party on May 11, 2019, at the Guidiguis congress. The disciplinary committee reviewed the various appeals and imposed sanctions.

Therefore, this instance of the National Political Bureau orders “the suspension of comrade Kona Robert’s functions within the National Political Bureau.” It gives “a formal prohibition to Comrade Kona Robert from acting on behalf of the Cameroonian Party for National Reconciliation in any way or capacity.” The committee imposes “a reprimand on comrade Kona Robert.”

These sanctions are based on the party’s texts after examining the reasons for the disciplinary committee’s involvement. Indeed, Robert Kona was accused of several actions in violation of the party’s texts. These include “usurpation of title since October 2023,” the use of “titles that do not exist in the party’s texts,” “the signing and publication of decisions regarding the party’s daily activities,” a power that belongs to the party’s leadership bodies; his opposition “to the approaches of the party’s Executive Committee”…

This decision of the PCRN comes as Robert Kona, who led the party from February 14, 2003, to May 11, 2019, has filed a lawsuit with the Kaélé Court of First Instance. He seeks the annulment of the May 11, 2019 congress in Guidiguis and its resolutions. However, in this process, he does not have the support of the other founding members of the party, Albert Fleuri Massardine and William Wanfeo.
