A self-proclaimed prophet known as Elijah Abiri has come under criticism for body-shaming a well-known Cameroonian influencer and philanthropist, Mama Atalaku.
The pair appeared on a Facebook live show on the Roy Mamah Show page on Wednesday, January 31st, 2024.
Mama Atalaku, also known as Christy Newuh, joined the show shortly after Abiri to discuss the false prophecy made by the pastor regarding the Cameroon-Nigeria game.
Abiri had predicted that Cameroon would win the game, which took place on January 27th, 2024. However, Cameroon lost to Nigeria 0-2, leaving the 2023 AFCON in the round-of-16 stage.
During the livestream, Abiri apologized to his Cameroonian followers, stating that it was not a prophecy but a revelation that was never meant to automatically come true. Mama Atalaku then cautioned him to focus on salvation and not seek validation on social media.
When Mama Atalaku’s advice did not sit well with him, Abiri resorted to body-shaming her and released a curse on her, prompting her to respond by calling him a disgrace.
Elijah Abiri is a Limbe-based prophet who has a history of making false prophecies about major happenings, celebrities, and authorities in Cameroon. He has also been known to engage in feuds with other self-proclaimed prophets.
There is also a commentary from Dr. Menjo, a renowned Cameroonian blogger and social critic, regarding the actions of Elijah Abiri.
