The President of the National Assembly calls on members of parliament and senators to meet in joint session on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. The President of the lower house of parliament, also the head of the Congress, has summoned the National Assembly and the Senate to a joint session on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. According to the decree dated March 28, 2024, at the request of the President of the Republic, “Parliament is convened in joint session on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 11 am, at the Palais des Congrès in Yaoundé, to swear in the members of the Constitutional Council appointed by presidential decree on January 18, 2024.”
Presidential decree no. 2024/010 renews the mandate of certain members of the Constitutional Council including President Clément Atangana, Emmanuel Bonde, Emile Essombe, Paul Nchoji Nkwi, Jean Baptiste Baskouda, Bah Oumarou Sanda, Charles Etienne Lekene Donfack, and Ahmadou Tidjani.
By decree no. 2024/011, the President Paul Biya has appointed professors Adolphe Minkoa She and Aaron Logmo MBelek as members of the Constitutional Council. They respectively replace the late professors Joseph Owona and Joseph Marie Bipoun Woum. They will take an oath of office for a six-year term.
The joint session on April 2, 2024, will be held to fulfill the formalities related to the appointment and swearing-in of the members of the Constitutional Council. This important event will take place at the Palais des Congrès in Yaoundé, marking the beginning of a new mandate for the appointed members.
