The Secretary General of the Central Committee of the RDPC, Jean Nkuete, invites the deputies and senators of the parliamentary groups of this party to a working session.
The Central Committee of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (RDPC), the majority party in Parliament, is summoning the presidents of the parliamentary groups. The Secretary General of this instance of the Torch Party anticipates a working session on Friday, March 22 at 10 am with the deputies of the RDPC parliamentary group in the National Assembly, a group led by Roger Melingui. An hour later, Jean Nkuete announces another working session with the senators of the RDPC parliamentary group, a group led by Calvin Zang Oyono.
The communication from the Secretary General dated March 21, 2024, does not indicate the points on the agenda. However, the convening of the RDPC parliamentary groups at Parliament comes at a time when the first regular session of the 2024 legislative year is underway in the National Assembly and the Senate since March 5, 2024. The work is stalling due to the deadlock in the renewal of the bureaus of the two Chambers of Parliament.
In the National Assembly, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, president since 1992, is available and committed to a new mandate. In the Senate, Marcel Niat Njifenji is unavailable for health reasons, after 10 years at the helm of the Senate. The age bureaus continue to preside over the parliamentary session in March, 16 days after the start of the works which are therefore deadlocked. The convocation of the RDPC parliamentary groups undoubtedly announces changes or adjustments at the head of these two parliamentary institutions, as well as within certain leadership bodies of the party. It should also be noted that these working sessions will be held two days before the celebration of the 39th anniversary of the RDPC.
