According to reliable sources, the lifeless body of the deceased in a state of decomposition was found in the Elig-Essono neighborhood on Sunday, April 7, 2024.

Sylvie Louisette Ngo Yebel, wife Founga, communication officer at the Central African Forests Commission (Comifac), residing in the Odza neighborhood in Yaoundé, was kidnapped and then murdered. In a statement received by the editorial staff of Journalducameroun.com, Receiac (Network of Communicators for Environment and Information in Central Africa), of which Sylvie Louisette Ngo Yebel was a member, informs the national and international public about this tragic death by assassination of the deceased.

“Under shock and in the greatest consternation, we learned of the tragic death, by assassination, of Mrs. Sylvie Louisette NGO YEBEL, wife FOUNGA, communications officer at the Executive Secretariat of COMIFAC. An unacceptable act, of unbearable violence and cruelty that deeply affects her family, colleagues, and the entire large family of the Network of Communicators for Environment and Information in Central Africa (RECEIAC) of which she was a member of the board. RECEIAC offers its sincere condolences to the family of Mrs. Sylvie Louisette NGO YEBEL, wife FOUNGA, as well as to her friends and colleagues at COMIFAC,” the statement signed by the association’s president Raoul Siemeni reads.

“This barbaric crime must not and cannot go unpunished. Therefore, RECEIAC calls on the Cameroonian government to act swiftly by opening a thorough investigation to shed light on this assassination as soon as possible. The death of Mrs. Sylvie Louisette NGO YEBEL, wife FOUNGA, is an affront to human dignity and a threat to freedom of expression and the work of communication professionals. As a communication officer at COMIFAC, Mrs. Sylvie Louisette NGO YEBEL, wife FOUNGA, worked for the preservation of the environment and the protection of biodiversity, essential missions for the future of our planet,” continues the network.

“We demand truth, justice, and the condemnation of those responsible for this heinous act. The security and integrity of citizens must be an absolute priority for Cameroonian authorities. Therefore, we call on the community of communication professionals to mobilize and support this call to action. We must remain united and solidary in the face of such acts of barbarism. We must not let fear and intimidation deter our actions and commitment to a better and more just world. Justice for Mrs. Sylvie Louisette NGO YEBEL, wife FOUNGA! Justice for all defenders of life, dignity, and nature!” the group demands through the same statement.

It is worth noting that this new case of femicide brings the number of women killed in Cameroon to more than 21 in less than 100 days.
