The Conciliation and Arbitration Chamber of the National Olympic and Sports Committee of Cameroon has ordered the suspension of the Elite One football Play-offs, scheduled for Friday, March 15, 2024. This decision follows a request from Fauve Azur de Yaoundé, who was unable to reach an agreement with Fecafoot during a hearing before the conciliation judge.
As a result, the Play-offs will remain suspended until the arbitration procedures are completed. This situation has been confirmed by Fauve Azur’s council, indicating that the case will now be examined in arbitration. Several other clubs, including Yong Sport, Ums, and Avion de Douala, are also involved in ongoing procedures before the Conciliation and Arbitration Chamber.
Ums, in particular, is at the center of three procedures against Fecafoot, seeking to recover points lost through disciplinary action. These disputes could have a significant impact on the standings and qualifications for the Play-offs. The requesting clubs are contesting decisions made by Fecafoot’s judicial bodies at the end of the regular phase of the championship.
Fauve Azur, already reinstated in the Big Four through a previous conciliation, hopes to obtain a favorable decision in this new procedure. Meanwhile, Union de Douala has also filed an appeal against a decision by the homologation and disciplinary commission, adding further uncertainty to the standings.
This complex situation could result in major changes in the Play-offs combinations and in the race for the Elite One championship title.
