The police arrested the fighter and politician opposing the system on March 27, 2024 at his home.

Mboua Massock, a politician and member of the Union des populations du Cameroun, was arrested on March 27 at his home at the “Pavillon du devoir national.” At the order of the Wouri prefect, law enforcement forces took him to the regional delegation of the judicial police in Douala. According to a source close to the resistor, he was then questioned in these premises for hours. There has been no news of his release so far.

Mboua Massock’s arrest came the day after he was summoned by the prefect. Sylyac Marie Mvogo, the new prefect of Wouri, was expecting the politician at his office in Douala on Tuesday, March 26 for “an urgent matter concerning him.” Even before this administrative summons, the person concerned had initiated an “operation to resist to the end,” calling on the Cameroonian population to observe silence in their homes on April 17, 18, and 19, 2024.

The approach aims to compel the government to address current problems and difficulties, as well as some requirements to be met before the 2025 elections. These requirements include “a two-round presidential election,” restructuring of Elecam, a reduction in the time for announcing election results, “an immediate ceasefire and the opening of real talks relating to the conflict in the so-called English-speaking regions of the country.”
