On March 24th, the president of the Youth Organization section of the Democratic Rally of the Cameroonian People (OJRDPC) in Mefou and Akono Nord Mbankomo announced his intention to register several thousand young people for the presidential election scheduled for 2025.
The section of the Youth Organization of the Democratic Rally of the Cameroonian People (OJRDPC) in Mefou and Akono Nord Mbankomo is already working towards the upcoming presidential election, scheduled for 2025. To do this, its president, Pierre Arnaud Essomba Onana, has launched the “3000 Youth Registered” operation in his district. The announcement was made during the celebration of the 39th anniversary of the RDPC on March 24, 2024 in Mbankomo. “We are convinced that our democracy will remain strong if we encourage young people of voting age to register on the electoral lists. Let us not forget that the merit of such an initiative will go to our party, which will be ready to support its candidate, Paul Biya, in 2025 so that the RDPC reigns in Mbankomo,” explained Pierre Arnaud Onana Essomba during a phone interview.
He also took the opportunity to call on the elites of his district to support him in this process. “I hereby make a strong appeal to all the elites of the Mbankomo district to provide support to ensure the success of this important activity,” he added, aware of the challenges the OJRDPC section may face in carrying out this operation.
This initiative is in line with the Supreme Councils of the RDPC. On January 10th, the Secretary General of the Central Committee of the RDPC, Jean Nkuété, sent a circular letter to all heads of permanent regional and departmental delegations of the Central Committee of the RDPC, as well as to the presidents of the sections, sub-sections, basic committees and RDPC, Ofrdpc and Ojrdpc cells, instructing them to take measures to ensure a successful electoral list revision operation in their respective political units for the year 2024. Taking into account the imperative of continuous improvement of Cameroon’s electoral system, the Secretary General instructs these Party leaders at the grassroots level to conduct these enrollment operations in the best interest of the Democratic Rally of the Cameroonian People (RDPC).
In accordance with this circular from the Central Committee, Pierre Arnaud Onana Essomba intends to proceed through several stages: sensitizing the various stakeholders on the work expected of them; formally identifying the militants to be enrolled; verifying the electoral lists; and representing the party, “as the Party’s interests must be safeguarded in the various local electoral list revision commissions through the presence of dynamic comrades who shuttle between these bodies and the offices of the different organs, facilitate card withdrawals, and ensure mastery of the political register and the voter file,” he concluded.
