Since the beginning of the security crisis, the Mayo Tsanaga region has been the scene of numerous attacks, and this time, the gendarmerie of Mogode has managed to put an end to the activities of three criminals involved in cattle theft.

The Boko Haram sect and highway bandits have already stolen more than 6,000 cattle during this crisis. A herd from Dembo, a locality in Garoua in the North region, was recently targeted.

Adjudant-chef major Lekunze Nembo Marie from the gendarmerie of Mogode stated that they had received numerous complaints regarding cattle theft and got to work. They received information from an informant and acted accordingly.

Following the alert from the owners, these herds were located in the Mogode district, Mayo Tsanaga department, in the Far North region. The defense and security forces, led by the gendarmerie brigade of Mogode, acted swiftly, following the instructions of the company commander of Mayo Tsanaga.

Night and day patrols were intensified in this border town with Nigeria. Thanks to this operation, the brigade commander and his team managed to apprehend three bandits. They are Souaïbou Ngade, a butcher at the Kila market, Deli François, 18 years old, and Ibrahim Nari, 23 years old, both shepherds and employees of Souaïbou Ngade, the gang leader.

Out of the 60 cattle stolen from the north to Garoua, only 17 were found in the possession of the criminals in Mogode in Mayo Tsanaga. Unfortunately, the other 43 have already crossed the border to Nigeria.

The result of this operation is the recovery of 17 heads in the hands of the kidnappers. Among them, one gave birth. Out of these 17 heads, 11 have been returned to their rightful owners, following the instructions of the public prosecutor of Mokolo. The others have been placed at the municipal barrier awaiting potential owners.

The commander of the Mayo Tsanaga company expressed gratitude for the collaboration of the populations, emphasizing that without their support, the task would not have been as easy. Cooperation that has allowed to put an end to the activities of these criminals and restore some of the stolen cattle.
