The lawyer of businessman Jean Pierre Amougou Belinga, Me Tchoungang, announces the imminent revelation of the truth in the case in which the accused are being sent back to court for trial.
One year after the disappearance and murder of Martinez Zogo, the public opinion thirsts for the truth. Who arrested, tortured, and killed the head of Amplitude FM? Who ordered the act? Who are the perpetrators, accomplices, and collaborators of this heinous act? None of these questions have clear answers yet. As the judicial police officers and investigating judge have completed the preliminary investigations and judicial information, the truth is still awaited.
At least, that’s what the lawyer of Jean Pierre Amougou Belinga and Bruno Bidjang, both accused, along with 15 other suspects, suggested on Sunday, March 3, 2023. One for “complicity in torture” and the other for “conspiracy to torture and arrest and sequestration.” At the end of the judicial information, “we are preparing the case so that the truth comes to light. We see that (…) Behind this fight, there is the nakedness of the State, the sovereign nakedness (…) ,” said the lawyer on March 3 during the Club d’Elites show on Vision4, the television owned by his client.
With the case now at the Military Court, the former Bar Association president in Cameroon believes that the real culprits are not yet known. “A murder has been committed, and they want to blame the wrong people. Those who want to know the truth must wait for the trial,” he insists. The lawyer says he is ready to defend his clients even if he has to appeal to “the prince” (the head of state) for it. Thus, the hour of truth is approaching. The investigating judge’s referral order can be consulted here.
